Michelle M. Porter MPH, RD

Owner of Porter Nutrition, LLC

Porter Nutrition's mission is to empower individuals to eat and be healthier, improving their relationship with food and ultimately with themselves. Michelle M. Porter MPH, RD seeks to change the perception of a dietitian as the “food police” to that of a nutrition counselor; Michelle's role is that of a helper and guide, an advocate, sounding board, role model, and witness to the truly remarkable changes her clients will make in the way they care for themselves, including what they choose to eat.

Michelle Porter is a Registered Dietitian. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University (2007) and also completed her dietetic internship (2008) there as well. She received a Masters degree in Public Health from Thomas Jefferson University (2013).

For the past 10 years, Michelle has worked as an outpatient dietitian. Her areas of experience include bariatric surgery, nonsurgical weight management, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, hypertension and PCOS. She also has personal and professional experience in plant-based nutrition and completed eCornell's Plant Based Nutrition certification (2017). Although Michelle has a great deal of expertise in these areas, she is also willing and very interested in working with anyone who needs the assistance of an RD.

What and how people eat is deeply steeped in culture, tradition, attitude, personal preferences, physiology, and emotions. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to addressing the health and dietary needs of any individual person. Fortunately, this is the very obscurity that Michelle feels will guarantee her interest in this field and career for a lifetime. Michelle has a passion for nutrition and helping others. Being a nutritionist is truly a vocation for Michelle, a rewarding career that also remains a hobby in her personal life and, she feels, one of her greatest gifts to her family on a daily basis.
